THE PROJECT “ART OF RECYCLING” WANTED TO UNDERSTAND THE NEED FOR RECYCLING IN OUR EVERYDAY LIVES AND HOW IT CAN BE DONE IN A CREATIVE WAY.
ART IS ACCESSIBLE TO ANYONE WHO WANTS TO EXPRESS THEMSELVES.
THIS WAY, YOUNG PEOPLE WITH SPECIAL NEEDS HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO EXPRESS THEMSELVES AND CREATE ART THROUGH USING RECYCLED MATERIALS SUCH AS GLASS, PAPER AND PLASTIC.
PROVING ONCE AGAIN THAT SPECIAL NEEDS ARE NOT INABILITIES.
TO DO THIS THE TEAM DID SOME EXERCISES AND PRACTICED WAYS TO RE-USE OLD THINGS AS ART AND HERE ARE SOME OF THEIR RESULTS.
THE TEAM TRIED TO INVOLVE THE LOCAL COMMUNITY WITH THE MESSAGE THAT RECYCLING IS EVERYONE‘S OBLIGATION.
AND THAT PEOPLE WITH SPECIAL NEEDS CAN BECOME EXCELLENT TEACHERS OF METHODS THEY THEMSELVES LEARNED IN SCHOOL.
IT ALSO SHOWED THAT PEOPLE WITH SPECIAL NEEDS HAVE THE SAME FEELINGS AS OTHER CITIZENS AND CAN BE USEFUL IN MAKING THE QUALITY OF LIFE BETTER FOR EVERYONE THE COMMUNITY.
IN OUR HECTIC, MODERN EVERYDAY LIVES, IT'S GOOD TO JUST RELAX AND LET YOUR FEELINGS AND CREATIVITY FLOW.
RECYCLED MATERIALS WE USED: PAPER CARDBOARD, TOILET PAPER ROLLS, BEER CAPS, ROPE, WOOD, PLASTIC BOTTLES, NEWSPAPER, COTTON, TIN CANS ETC.
THE REASONS WE CHOSE THOSE MATERIALS BASICALLY WERE BECAUSE THEY WERE EASY TO FIND IN EVERY HOUSEHOLD, AT LOW COST AND EASY TO USE.
WE HAVE ALSO USED OTHER MATERIALS THAT HELPED US TO BRING THE ARTWORK IN ITS FINAL FORM SUCH AS: GLUE, MARKERS, SCISSORS, METAL WIRE, BALLOONS (THAT WE USED AS A MOLD), KITCHEN UTENSILS, PAINT,
BRUSHES ETC

MAKE THE MIDDLE HOLE -YELLOW DOT- A LITTLE BIGGER TO FIT THE PENCIL
STABILIZE PENCIL WITH TAPE AND GLUE THE COLOURED CIRCLES ON EACH SIDE
PULL ONE SIDE OF ROPE THROUGH CERAMIC BEADS AND THE OTHER SIDE THROUGH INSIDE OF CAN.
DO THE SAME ON THE OTHER HOLE. THE BEAD SHOULD DROPE TO ABOUT THE MIDDLE OF THE CAN.
